Melbourne Cup, How to pick the winner
In  Australia, where I live, we have an annual horse race in November, the Melbourne Cup, which stops the country.

You have to experience it to believe it. It is an unofficial holiday, with parties at work, almost everyone bets, women wear hats, and there is a TV propped up on the desk come race time….

To back the winner of the Melbourne Cup is easy. You just choose the winning horse. Thousands of people do it every year. So now you know. Too easy.

In my first real journalism job for the local newspaper, I paid $5 to go in to the office sweep and was absolutely delighted to get the winner and win $35, which was a lot to add to my meager pay check as a cadet! The Managing Editor came to congratulate me, but he was mostly annoyed that he had lost $500!

It’s a gamble. And I’ll have some fun every November for this amazing horse race, but it’s not the way I play my life. I like more calculated risks.

How many people, maybe yourself, pay a lot to win, but accept poor odds by doing nothing more than putting the money down? Paid for gym membership and never showed up, bought the book but never read it, attended the conference and never implemented a single suggestion? I have done this!

You are full of good intentions, even willing to part with your money, but then the challenge of making changes, taking action, trips you up...
There are two reasons why this might happen;
1. Poor alignment; the plan you had is not right for you.
2. You lack something; help or knowledge or encouragement or understanding or motivation. Something was missing to get you over the finishing line.

If you had everything you needed (no excuses please) then it’s time to look and understand yourself and set more aligned goals.

If you didn’t have everything you needed to achieve, work out what’s missing, and get it!

In both cases, most people miss motivation and understanding themselves. They have the money, they have the good intentions, but they are just gambling and the odds are they’ll lose. I don’t like those odds.

Getting self awareness is a job you choose to do, just like building a business and putting out the garbage. If you do the work, good things flow and bad things get handled (yep – they still happen). With self awareness you will know if you are being tripped up by a lack or poor alignment.

So good luck with the Melbourne Cup, have fun with your flutter, but when it comes to your life, don’t gamble.

Get a system that helps you understand and get alignment.

4me2realize incorporates these principles.

You are a lot like a rock, or not?

Most people think of rocks as ordinary, plentiful, basic, unchangeable, hard and uncompromising, massive, dependable, solid, certain.... maybe?

And maybe not. If you take notice, there are millions of types of rocks. That’s because they are changing ALL the (long) time in response to many variables. For example the rocks in some places of the earth’s crust are plastic, bending, flexing, moving continents, creating tsunamis.

Changing rocks is known as the metamorphic process. It combines the rock’s original state with time, pressure, moisture, temperature and chemicals to produce an endless variety of new rocks that is simply astounding.

You are a lot like a rock; you are a unique combination of pre-existing conditions like genetics, location, social environment, beliefs and experiences, just like a rock is a unique combination of chemicals formed in different environmental conditions.

And just like a rock, you can be metamorphed, over time to something entirely different according to the combination of actions around you and your unique self.

Unlike rock, you have choice. (How ironic, that biblical no-know, free will....) So you are not something that is passively subjected to time, pressure, moisture, temperature and chemicals. Or is that social conditions, genetics, environment, beliefs, experiences, location?

You, unlike a rock, have a choice of what to make of what happens to you. What happens to you is, of course, created by you to facilitate your own growth, even if you are not aware of this.

What you make of this depends on your choices. A rock is a logical and definable entity. We know exactly how much pressure is required to turn carbon into diamonds. Human nature (psychology) is not so logical or definable. No one knows exactly what you will do under pressure. Will you become more determined or give up? The choice is yours. And through your decisions, your destiny is created.

There are times when we all feel like rocks – hardening our resistance to change and growth. But even rocks can and do change. And what they become is quite often miraculous.

Start your own metamorphism. Understand where you are now, visualise your destination. Get clear on your current attributes and the ones you will need to create your desired future. If this all sounds like too much work, you can do 2 things, sit there like a rock and let it all happen to you, OR get 4me2realize and use it to start EASILY creating the future of your dreams.....

Rock on (sorry), Kind regards
Cas – a diamond in the makin’

P.s. This is impressive.... Most natural diamonds are formed at high-pressure high-temperature conditions existing at depths of 140 to 190 kilometers (87 to 120 mi) in the Earth mantle. Carbon-containing minerals provide the carbon source, and the growth occurs over periods from 1 billion to 3.3 billion years (25% to 75% of the age of the Earth). Now I appreciate my diamond ring!

What is more important, your life or your money?

Do you do business? Involved in the business world in anyway? Have you ever bought or sold something? Then you know that in this world everything revolves around one thing, a financial transaction. Nothing happens until something is sold. (Really?)

And when something is sold, a record is kept, a financial record. Where would the world be without financial systems? Started by the Egyptians more than 3 thousand years ago, and still going strong! They track every transaction, every nuance of buyer behaviour and market favour.

No one would start a business and get very far without a financial system in the background, ticking over, recording every sale, creating balance sheets, profit and loss reports, budgets, monthly and yearly reports. Taking the financial pulse of every artery of business, letting us know those vital statistics, allowing us to make adjustments, chart our course and create wealth and success, and avoid failure and ruin.

Wouldn’t you agree these financial systems are VERY important.  But it is ONLY money. There is one thing even more important, YOUR LIFE.

What system do you have for your life?

If your life is worth MORE than MONEY, why wouldn’t you treat it with MORE respect, more importance, time, consideration, priority? Hmm.... thought provoking I hope.

Because my life is more important than anything I own, I have developed a system that tracks my EMOTIONAL transactions. You see -  there is more to life than financial transactions.....MUCH MORE.

I get a balance sheet of my Life, assets, liabilities, expenses and income, in terms of who I am and who I want to become, my strengths and weaknesses. What I get and what I give when I contribute my talents to the world.... I have my budget on goals, aspirations and achievements and reports on projects & progress. I can see where I need to make adjustments in spending – emotional energy that is wasted and where there are opportunities for self development.

I record my assets in magic moments and my expenses in wisdom and lessons learned. I live fully. Just like a well run business, I track my transactions to achieve my fullest potential.

If you have a business head, have you ever thought about a system that would help you run your life like you run a business? A life management system?

Since the Egyptians humans have been creating systems, since Aristotle, humans have sought improvement in higher realms, ourselves.

Combine systems with self development and you empower yourself to achieve your fullest potential.

4me2realize combines a life management system, technology and psychology. What’s missing? Only You.

What do you see in the Mirror?

There is a great book called the E-myth by Michael Gerber. If you run a business or want to, it is a MUST read, especially for small to medium sized business. If you want to one day be big, then Good to Great by Jim Collins is also an absolute MUST.

In E-myth Michael explains that a business, whatever it is, is an extension of yourself, your own personal beliefs and your own world view. Your business will reflect you.

When I looked at the business my husband and I had built, I could see it was true. A lot of the beliefs, values and characteristics of US, were ingrained into the corporate culture of our business, honesty, hard work, perseverance. Standard stuff, but we also had; daring to be different, fun, commonsense, and caring! These were unique to us and our business.

Our business very much reflected our strengths.... AND our weaknesses. So if our business wasn’t performing, we had no further to look, than ourselves. Sobering stuff. But also liberating....

If there are things around you, in your business, your job, your relationship, your health or wealth that are not proceeding as you would like them, the first place to look for solutions is within yourself.

In most cases, what appears around you, is a reflection of what is inside you. What at first appears external, is in fact very much influenced by your internal reality. The good news means that it can change. That’s liberating.

The hard lesson, is that to change anything in your world, the most effective place to start, is with yourself. For many people, it is easier to blame the economic climate, their partner, their boss, their parents, for their predicament. It is easier, but not effective.

When we try and change we come up against RESISTANCE. At this point most people resign themselves to the “way things are” and do their best to cope. Successful people are different. They use strategies and systems that make changing their internal reality and therefore their external circumstances, easy and effective. Drat them, it’s actually natural for them.

The happy news is, these systems and strategies can be learned, used and implemented by anyone with the will.

Using 4me2realize will guide you everyday to adopt habits, strategies, thinking, behaviour and systems that will make changing your circumstances easier and more fun than a tonne of excuses!

Get into the habits of the highly successful, design your own life and live on your terms.

Let me know what external circumstances you have found that reflect your internal reality and what you did or are doing to change it.

Stillness, silence and solitude

Stillness, silence and solitude
"Shut up! I can't hear myself think!" Have you heard, felt or said this? It is so noisy you can't think. You feel bombarded and overwhelmed. You can't concentrate or focus. There is so much clamouring for your attention, you don't know where to start.... sound familiar?
Have you ever wondered why every major religion has a meditative, prayerful, or retreat in solitude component? Why images of meditating monks on mountain tops resonates with us? Or solitary walks on beaches?
(Picture taken this morning from my front veranda.)
Everyone recognises the need for stillness, silence and solitude, but how many of us get it, do it, experience it regularly? If you live in a big city, you never get a moment's silence, even in the depth of night, there is a background roar of traffic, machinery, artificial light dims the magnificence of the stars. You are never alone. Yet in the crowds we can feel the greatest isolation...how happy are you with your own company?
We are busy in a noisy, crowded world. When do you lay back, switch off, take time out? Think. Contemplate, stare. Rebalance to our natural state of serenity and calmness?
For most people in today's world, space for stillness, silence and solitude has to be scheduled and planned. Often it is not a priority against other competing demands.
Yet in the spaces we leave for stillness, silence and solitude, can be our greatest creative moments, insights, brilliant concepts conceived. Light bulb moments, life changing decisions. Without effort they come bidden into the spaces we allow. For humans contemplative time is essential to unwind and de-stress. To organise our thoughts and make sense of our lives.
Recently I visited Sydney for business. I was acutely aware of my senses being overloaded, by sounds and sights. I enjoyed the variety, intensity and excitement of the city. But I felt relieved to be home on the farm where there is not a billboard in sight. The silence is deafening and the stars are brilliant in the night sky. I am blessed to have this space around me all the time. But how do my city cousins cope? They are immune, unaware and unconscious, it has become background noise they ignore. In this way, we cope.
When you turn your senses off to the "hurly burley," it enables you to survive and thrive in a busy crowded environment.  You focus on what you need to do and the rest is filtered out. There is a risk that you will filter out some stuff you need to hear, feel and do.  That you disconnect from your awareness and consciousness. Good news, easy to fix, just make sure you have time for stillness, silence and solitude; and it doesn't have to be hard, try these;
·         Turn the radio/music  off sometimes
·         Turn off the TV for a day or a week
·         Visit a national park for a day and get into the bush
·         Meditate, pray or reflect
·         Listen more than talk
·         Get out of town to star gaze
·         Be alone
·         Find a place that is still or silent, and be still or silent in it
·         Lie on some grass and watch clouds or tree leaves
·         Be unoccupied with anything
·         Have a day doing nothing but whatever you feel like...
Finding space in your life for stillness, silence and solitude is a precious gift to yourself. You will be surprised at the results as you reconnect with feelings, sensations, feedback from your inner voice, yourself.
So next time you schedule the meeting, the shopping, whatever, plan some time for silence, stillness and solitude. Be amazed at what you discover within your own head space.
4me2realize uses self reflection in the Journey section to help you hear your inner voice, to contemplate your life and make sense of what you do amidst the noise and clutter.
Wishing you stillness, silence and solitude....

How heavy is it?

source : http://www.lostartsmedia.com/images/NatureInLove01.jpg

Have you ever noticed how bad stuff gets more attention than good stuff? It weighs more somehow. Why is this?
My husband and I were in travelling with a group in Germany when we found ourselves in the midst of a fight, over something silly, yet it absorbed all our attention. We didn't notice the glistening snow, or the beautiful forest or our smoky cold breath hanging in the icy air. We talked and thought all about this problem we had with these people.
When we became aware that we were immersed in this crap, we asked why... the key is asking good questions....and we could see a pattern, that when ever there is a problem it gets more of our attention. More than when there is something good happening.
We put it down to a biological legacy driven by the need to survive. Back in "cave man" days problems had to be solved to ensure the survival of the social group.  But the problems we were giving all our emotional attention and energy were not a matter of survival, they were just plain silly. What amazed us is how we had got sucked into this emotional vortex. And we got out. We stopped focusing on this silly problem, decided what we would do, and got on with more enjoyable things.
People are much more motivated by pain than pleasure, sad but true. You get much more attention if you're "clinically depressed,' rather than coping and thriving! You buy newspapers and magazines that relish bad news. It's so intriguing when someone else has cocked up! Media magnets know this so well. They make millions from our inherent interest in bad stuff.
But at the end of the day it is a CHOICE. Your choice. What you invest your emotional energy in defines you. Ask yourself, what are you choosing to focus on and what meaning are you giving it? Are these thoughts dragging you down or building you up? Choose to build. Reject thoughts that destroy. Learn whatever lesson is there for you and then move on. Your emotional energy is just as important as your physical vitality. Are you fat and lazy with your thinking? Are you feeding your brain junk food?
Become aware of what your brain and thinking is consuming and producing. What are you reading and listening to? Is it building or destroying you? What are you thinking, positive or negative?
My son had a bad dream when he was little. He was frightened to go back to sleep again. As I sat with him he visualised the bad dream, then we got a big black imaginary marker and drew a big black imaginary cross right over those bad thoughts. We crossed them right out. He realised he had POWER to CHOOSE what he was thinking about and to turn off destructive frightening thoughts. This was an amazingly simple, powerful life lesson and he uses it all the time.
Personally, I restrict the news I listen to, the people I let into my inner circle, the amount of advertising I see. I have chosen the place I live to give me peace and serenity. I read and view television and internet content selectively and I minimise the time I spend there. I am discerning. I exercise rigorously my right to CHOOSE what my mind consumes. This discipline frees me to create the life I want.
The bad stuff can consume a disproportionate weight of your attention. That's natural as you learn the lesson, but don't get stuck enjoying the dramatic weight of bad stuff. Move on.
4me2realize helps you become aware of the weight and impact of your thinking. Use it regularly to exercise your right to choose, the discipline to create the life you want to realize.
 Kindest regards

What’s wrong with goals and getting stuff?

For most of us, we’ve been told to write our goals, review them regularly and achieve them happily.
But we don’t do it.
I spoke last week with a lady that taught goal setting but didn’t use any of the strategies she taught!

Why is this? For some of us, it is overwhelm, but underneath, I think many of us find the whole process lacks any real meaning. Failed resolutions make us wary of a process that requires lots of effort and delivers so little.

There’s also an underlying distrust of a system that puts us on a treadmill.... achieve this goal, then you will be happy. Then what? Achieve another goal, suddenly it sounds like a trap, never ending, drudgery. And the happiness, mere illusion.

Inherently, we all understand stuff doesn’t buy happiness. But we are all pretty sold on the concept aren’t we? Who would knock back a nice new car, a big house, a status handbag, diamond ring, racing yacht/fishing charter, or on-snow chalet?

So why would anyone set goals if achieving the goal isn’t the outcome it’s cracked up to be? Exactly. So we don’t.... Yet the self help gurus continue to insist, set those goals. And we continue to resist. Get stuffed, go away, I just want to live my life doing what I love. Exactly. So why set goals?

For the journey.... ah ha. For what you learn along the way. NOT what you get, get it? For the emotions, the feelings, the experiences, the life lived fully. That’s why. And the best goal of all is a Life Purpose that guides you in all your seeking, questing, believing, in your noblest endeavours and the giving of your gifts...

And that’s why its recommend you start at the pointy end with your Life Purpose. Because when you align your goals to your driving, inspiring, motivating, passionate, fulfilling Life Purpose, all the empty drudgery of goal setting, goes away.

It changes from what you get, to what you give. It changes from stuff, to experiences. It changes from a trap to deeply satisfying. It becomes meaningful, because you are on a journey to realize your potential. You know exactly WHERE you are going.

And every challenge and unexpected event is just a bleep on the radar that guides you, effortlessly, consistently, faithfully, to realizing the greatness within you...

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
The above quote is widely misattributed on the Web and elsewhere to Nelson Mandela's 1994 inaugural address. The author is Marianne Williamson, from her 1992 book, "Return to Love" (p. 165).

4me2realize can help you set goals that are aligned with your life purpose and journal daily against them, so goal setting becomes meaningful, motivating and achievable. Try it now for free, no credit card required, just go to our web site.

Your DIY Funeral eulogy goes like....

I’d like to tell you about 4me2realize....
But first imagine you’re on your death bed. Now just stay with me here, imagine you’re sadly near death  and planning your own memorial service.
There’s a crowd and everyone is crying. What are they saying about you? Then someone steps confidently forward to summarise your own life... what do they say?
Where you kind, generous, loving, a fantastic family person, a successful business leader, a prodigious artist, a lawmaker, a peace maker, a soup kitchen volunteer? Did you touch hearts or mend fences? Did you change the world or lives?
Could you do it? Are you happy with your life so far? Or are you like most of us, a car without a steering wheel, a traveller without a map, a person without a clear, defining, driving, passionate purpose?  Do you know where you are going?
Success psychologists say that 95% - 97% of the people in the world do NOT have written goals and fail, while 3-5% have written goals and succeed. [1]
Mark McCormick in his book What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business School tells of a Harvard study conducted between 1979 and 1989.
In 1979, graduates of the MBA program were asked to set clear written goals for their future and their plans to accomplish them. It turned out only 3 percent of the graduates had written goals, 13 percent had goals but they were not in writing and 84 percent had no specific goals at all–aside from getting out of school and enjoying the summer.
Ten years later, in 1989, the researchers again interviewed the members of that same graduating class. They found that the 13 percent who had goals that were not in writing were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent of students who had no goals at all. Most surprisingly, they found that the 3 percent of graduates who had clear, written goals were earning, on average, 10 times more than 97 percent of their graduating class. The only difference between the groups was the clarity of goals they had set (and spelled out) for themselves when they graduated.
Defining your purpose and aligning your goals to WHO you want to be makes goals getting much easier to achieve. 4me2realise is unique because first it asks, “what is your life purpose?” then it gets you to set congruent goals. And it is easy to use everyday so that you can really design the life of your dreams....whatever that may be, an art studio, a successful business, a big red sports car, a happy healthy family, changing the world.
Getting congruence or alignment stops the resistance, the tug of war between what you want and what stops you progressing.  Who has kept their New Year’s Resolutions?  Who doesn’t even bother anymore?  Resolutions without the reasons WHY are doomed. You need a strong emotional WHY to motivate you to achieve and you need congruence.
Knowing how to do this is CRITICAL to success. 4me2realize incorporates the best of modern psychology and technology to make it easy for you to integrate what you do everyday with your Life Purpose and Goals. It is more than just writing an “I want” or “to do” list.
It combines three powerful tools, Life Purpose, Goal setting and Journaling. As you journal against your goals, you slow your thinking down and start to recognise the behaviours that serve you and those that do not. In this way, change is easier. It asks you to analyse what you do, your brakes and your motivators...and in this way, accelerate your progress.
In summary 4me2realize is 3 in 1 software tool, that is integrated, interactive and online. A Virtual Life coach that you can use every day to design the life you want.
The good news is that you’re not dead. The bad news is you are dying. You don’t know when you’re time will be up. Life is not a test run. What is your eulogy? Don’t wait till your dead. Live the life of your dreams now. It is never too late or too soon to start.
With Kind regards....
Cas

Connection, the ultimate gift to yourself.

A few weeks ago I wrote about defining your Life Purpose in response to some Realizers who struggled with the very first question, “What is your Life Purpose?”

I want to cover another aspect of this important, first, momentous step. The importance of which was brought home to me one early rainy Sunday morning when I wandered down through wet paddocks, to our remote brown river with a very good friend, stripped off and swam and talked nakedly about the importance of connection to one’s self...a fitting spiritual start to the day’s divinity. First I want to assure you... you already know what your Life Purpose is, at some level, you know. Your whole brain, body, heart and soul and every experience you have ever had up to now, has defined your Life Purpose. You know what it is, it is inside you. You were created out of the dust of the universe to achieve Your Life Purpose. If that’s too cosmic for you, think of it as your God given Purpose.

The problem is in our “busy” world you might not have ever consciously sought it out. To find it, you have to reconnect with yourself. This connection is tricky, especially in today’s noisy world. In some ways we spend our whole lives trying to connect with our inner selves and to know ourselves truly. It is no accident that Anthony Robbins starts his signature Unleash the Power Within event with the stated outcome “Know thy self!” Hardly original, but as true and relevant today as it was 2000 years ago!

To know yourself you have to have some connection with yourself. I imagine your life is a lot like mine. I juggle many responsibilities, there is a never ending demand on my time and attention, the phone is ringing, there are constant SMS and email messages demanding an instant response. People have expectations of me and rely on me for their living.

There is always a pile of washing, grass to be cut and houses to be cleaned. There is television, radio news in the car, DVD’s, You Tube and a million other distractions. How the hell to cut through all this stuff and get connected to yourself? Connecting with yourself almost seems like another unrealistic demand in an already overwhelmed world...

  1. Value yourself. Your are worth it. You deserve it
  2. Make Time. Make some space. Come up for air.
  3. Understand everything benefits from giving time to yourself.
Recognise that contemplative time for yourself is as important as time with your partner or time at work. The others all suffer if you are measly with yourself.

To find your Life Purpose is to free yourself, to allow you to be True to thyself, and allow your inner light to shine. There is a noble purpose to this exercise that reaches far beyond yourself and to the universe as you unlock the gifts and talents you have to give...which makes it very satisfying.

In your decisions lies your destiny. Decide now that the self is central and take action on that priority. If you don’t have a Life Purpose then you haven’t done it yet...

Timothy Ferriss wote The 4-Hour Work Week, which became a NY #1 best seller. In it he says “Are you inventing things to do to avoid the important?”

“Being busy is often used as a guise for avoiding a few critically important but uncomfortable actions.” Ask yourself, am I hiding behind busyness?

Sometimes creating a Life Purpose may make you uncomfortable. You sit staring at the blank page or screen, looking at far away vistas while searching desperately for the true internal self. You squirm.

It is far easier to turn on the TV, go and eat something, do something else, like clean the house, or send an email, surf the internet.

David Whyte’s Book “The Three Marriages” describes knowing the self as “the most difficult marriage of all” the other two being with our partner and work.

“All of our great contemplative traditions advocate the necessity for silence in an individual life; first, for gaining a sense of discernment amid the noise and haste, second, as a basic building block of individual happiness, and third, to let this other all-seeing identity (ourselves) come to life and find it’s voice inside us.....It can be disconcerting or even distressing to find....this internal marriage (with ourself) calls for a kind of cessation, a stopping, a fierce form of attention that attempts to look at where all this DOING arises from. For the busy mind, for instance, it is almost impossible or even painful.”

Mr Whyte’s vocation as a poet makes his writing lyrical as he recognises our universal struggle to identify and connect with our true voice.

No amount of software can help you uncover your Life Purpose. Time and contemplation, stillness and “fierce attention” are the keys. So turn off the TV, radio, computer, phone, go to the park or the paddock, the river or the beach, go to the mountain or into the forest. Listen to beautiful music or silence. But hold fast to your desire to find your shining light within, to call it a name, to define it and live by your true nature.

Once you know what your Life Purpose is, 4me2realize will help you align everything you do with it. From that point on life becomes a lot easier. You may even find you do less and have more. You are less busy because you are more focused on a clearly defined Purpose. You will have the gift of empowering clarity. It is the antidote to a busy life, a fulfilled life.
Tough it may be, worthwhile it is.

I like Timothy Ferriss description of laziness “to endure a non-ideal existence and let circumstances or others decide life for you....”

All these principles are incorporated in 4me2realize.

Who are you?

“Who are you and who do you want to be?” is the most important question when you start to create a plan for your life. You want to find out what your life’s purpose is because this will give you the reason for everything you do in your life.

It transforms cooking for the family, into a loving act of providing the family with lifelong habits of good nutrition and healthy living. You want to be a wonderful parent. How can cooking be a chore when it has this inspiring purpose?

This is the secret of motivating yourself to get what you want, start first with WHO you want to be.
Your Life’s Purpose, put simply, is something that you work towards all your life.
We all have a purpose but many of us have never thought to describe it in a sentence. Do not fear, a “purpose” is not final or ultimate. It is always evolving. It evolves as we gain more knowledge and experience of ourselves.

Here are a few tips to describing your purpose:
  • It should be broad enough to encompass many aspects of your life.
  • It should be something that you never complete.
  • It should be something that gives you a good feeling.
  • It should be something that contributes to others.
The following questions are helpful in reflecting on your purpose:

If somebody (or a universal guiding force) looked at your life and could see past, present and future, what would they say your purpose would be?

Assess your life experiences to date, your challenges, your gifts, and your opportunities. Find the direction and reason for these, and how they might contribute to a purpose. Look at what you contribute to family, friends, and colleagues. In conversation and consideration, what balance do you bring to the situation?
